The smallest and most tender Pullet weighing 2 to 3 kgs. Lean and with delicate flavours, this chicken suits 4-5 people for one meal. This chicken is grown to at least 80 days. They come as a whole bird with feet and head removed, cryovacced, boxed, and frozen on the day of processing for maximum freshness and quality.
Milking Yard Farm sits on fifty acres of rich red soil and lush green pastures, nestled in the hills near Trentham, Victoria. There, Bruce and Roz grow award winning heritage Sommerlad chickens, and occasionally some sheep, cattle and old-fashioned fruit and veggies.
They grow their chickens slowly and naturally — just how nature intended. After spending years finding the best produce with truly unique textures and flavours, Milking Yard Farm chickens are now recognised by some of Australia’s best chefs and restaurants.
For Bruce and Roz, top priorities are the welfare of their animals, the well-being of people and that of the environment. This means no chemicals or unsustainable farming practices. Humane treatment of animals and the use of regenerative farming practices are at the heart of everything they do.
Their vision is for chicken to be special once again — living in a natural habitat and tasting how chicken ‘used to taste’.
